*REFEREE: At least a 1-year MSSL certified judge. He/she runs the meet, serves as take-off judge, calls swimmers to the blocks using the whistle procedure, resolves disputes, & can disqualify any swimmer from anywhere in the pool area.
*STARTER: A 1-year MSSL certified judge. Serves as a take-off and finish judge, announces each event, and sounds the official starting signal.
*STROKE & TURN JUDGE: Walks along side the pool to inspect strokes in his/her half of the pool lanes, and can disqualify a swimmer based on his stroke or turn/finish at the wall.
SCOREKEEPER: Note: NEW SCOREKEEPERS MUST ATTEND SOFTWARE CLINIC
Using the Meet Maestro & the Dolphin Timing System software inputs the correct files of official times into the meet’s run screen. Watches the Dolphin screen to ensure the Starter has sent the heat files before starting the next race. After the final event he creates and prints the official score sheets and secures the referee and head coach’s signatures on the score sheet. The 2 scorekeepers (1 from each team) prints all ribbon labels by teams & athletes. NOTE: EACH TEAM WILL AFFIX THEIR OWN RIBBON LABELS using their supply of team ribbons.
RIBBONS: Affixes the labels onto the backs of the appropriate place or heat ribbons and separates the ribbons per the head coach’s instructions so it is easy for them to pass out at practice.
RUNNERS: Collects the lane sheets from the lane timer with the clipboard, arranges them in lane # order, and gives them to the scorekeepers at home meets.
HEAD TIMER: Sits by the Starter and records the slowest swimmer’s time on a heat sheet for each heat using a handheld watch. He or she may or may not be asked to give the Dolphin Timer instructions to all lane timers before the meet.
LANE TIMERS: 3 timers per lane FROM BOTH TEAMS use radio wave Dolphin stop watches to correctly record the swimmer’s completion time for each event. Ensures the proper swimmer is swimming in his/her heat and lane. Encourages all swimmers to finish the race.
READY BENCH PARENTS: Uses the heat sheet to assist coaches by calling swimmer’s names to line them up to go to the ready bench staging area.
CONCESSIONS: (IF YOUR TEAM SELLS CONCESSIONS) A team of people who plan, purchase, serve, and collect money for all food items sold at the team’s concession stand at home meets.
